La Voix Éternelle

Concord Community Music School Presents:

Melissa Elsman, contralto, and Kathryn Southworth, pianist, in La Voix Éternelle: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Pauline Viardot

Pauline Viardot was one of the most influential figures of the 19th-century European arts scene. A celebrated opera star, composer, pianist, and voice teacher, she also inspired and helped launch the careers of some of the greatest composers and literary figures of her time. Though a remarkable composer in her own right, her works were largely forgotten after her death in 1910—due in part to the challenges faced by women composers. A growing revival in the 21st century has brought her music back to life, and her works will be performed and explored during this presentation.

This event will take place on November 8, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Canterbury Parish House Community Center. All are welcome to attend. This free event is presented by Concord Community Music School and made possible by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s Ellen Downing Waite and Edward Osgood Waite Fund.
